It’s Performing Exactly As Designed
Let’s not kid ourselves.
This isn’t incompetence; it’s the system operating exactly how the powerful intended: cloaked in chaos, fueled by media distraction, and held aloft by a base that thinks felony indictments are résumé enhancers.
Donald Trump, jilted Monopoly tycoon and aspiring strongman, doesn’t accidentally destabilize democratic norms. He studies them like a predator studies a wounded animal, limping, still breathing, and oh-so-fun to toy with.
He’s not alone.
He’s backed by a GOP that gave up on policy years ago and now thrives on grievance theater and loud-shirt fascism.
Remember the tariffs?
He spikes them one week, softens them the next, then whispers backroom exceptions to anyone cutting checks at Mar-a-Lago.
That’s not foreign policy; it’s a garage sale. It’s Deal or No Deal hosted by a man who thinks NATO is a wine bar and diplomacy means “you’re fired.”
And the media?
JFC.
They still report on this guy like he’s a normal candidate with a “controversial style.”
No, he’s the main character in a reality show we cannot cancel, largely because the networks made too much money off Season One.
They’ll happily cover every empty podium for him while cutting off climate scientists mid-sentence.
Why?
Because Trump gets clicks, and the earth burning quietly in the background doesn’t.
Meanwhile, voters were stuck choosing between a an institutional Democrat they don’t love and a rage-fueled wannabe tyrant.
That’s not a choice:
it’s hostage negotiation.
This country doesn’t need “unity.”
It needs accountability.
We need the media to stop acting shocked and start telling the damn truth.
We need voters to care more about authoritarian creep than gas prices.
We need fewer billionaires funding fascism and fewer pundits stroking their chins while democracy bleeds out.
But hey, banana bread’s trending again, so maybe we’ll get to it next week.
