It’s his very first episode, raw, real, and refreshingly authentic. I highly recommend giving it a listen.

Michael, as many of you know from previous posts here on EDW, is a key member of our chosen family. He’s the police officer we’ve often referenced, the one who brought Nicole and me into his family’s world, taking us into the mountains and treating us as their own.

Here’s why you should listen: Michael represents something incredibly important: a real person, not just an abstract “MAGA supporter” or conservative figure you argue with online. He’s genuine, honest, and deeply committed to his beliefs, even when they’re different from yours or mine.

That’s the point. Our country is in trouble because we’ve stopped truly knowing each other. We’ve been manipulated into viewing anyone with different opinions as enemies. But when you take the time to understand someone like Michael (his motivations, experiences, and values) you quickly realize we have far more in common than we have differences.

Michael and I haven’t magically adopted each other’s beliefs, but we have significantly more respect for each other’s perspectives now. This mutual respect is what we desperately need more of. The path our country is currently on is not sustainable; each new administration undoes the work of the previous, deepening divides and weakening our nation.

The issue isn’t “Republican vs. Democrat.” It’s the increasing wealth inequality, the erosion of fair wages and union strength, and the erosion of a system where one income could support a comfortable, dignified life for an entire family. We need a modern New Deal, one that reflects today’s society, harnesses AI automation to reduce the workweek, provides universal healthcare, and allows people more time to spend with loved ones.

Make no mistake: scapegoats and fear-mongering about immigration are deliberate distractions. We’ve used AI to help compare this administration’s actions with historical patterns, and I see disturbing parallels to authoritarian regimes. That judgment is mine; AI doesn’t make an analysis free of bias. We must wake up to the trajectory we’re on.

But here’s the good news: change starts with understanding. Listen to Michael. Engage with his stories. Realize he’s not your enemy. He’s your neighbor, your fellow citizen, someone worth knowing. Maybe through conversations like these, we can reclaim our unity and rebuild our country into something truly great again.

Let’s get after it,
