Oh, look who’s back on the menu: our all-time favorite diplomatic dish: TACO, short for Trump Always Chickens Out. Because no one, and we mean absolutely no one, enjoys chickening out quite like Donald Trump.
July deadline? Nah, let’s move that to July 9th. Scratch that: how about August 1st? Actually, you know what? Let’s not even meet in person. We’ll send letters instead. Beautiful letters. The best letters. And that’s what we call a “deal” these days: Trump-style diplomacy: all bark, no bite, just chicken wrapped neatly in empty promises.
Yes, friends, President Trump is now joyfully penning intimidating tariff love letters to world leaders, threatening everything from automobiles to sushi-grade tuna, then promptly walking them back faster than a contestant eliminated on a reality TV show. Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt recently waved these “beautiful” letters around at a press conference like proud artwork displayed on a fridge, declaring that world leaders are begging Trump to “update” these tariffs. Translation: Trump’s phone is ringing off the hook with desperate pleas to stop causing global panic.
And, of course, Trump’s famous attention to detail shone through when he mistakenly addressed the Bosnian leader as “Mr. President.” Problem? Bosnia’s leader is, in fact, a woman. Details, details; it’s the thoughtless thought that counts.
This isn’t diplomacy; it’s international “hold my beer” bravado, drawing lines in the sand, then erasing them at the slightest breeze. Wall Street got it spot on: TACO. Trump Always Chickens Out.
America, it’s time to rethink: Do we really want global negotiations handled by someone whose idea of a binding deal comes with a side of guacamole?
