Forbes just released its 2025 Billionaires List. A record-shattering 3,028 names grace it, including 288 fresh-faced newcomers collectively worth nearly $680 billion. Entrepreneurs, investors, heirs (folks like rock pioneers, comedy legends, and The Terminator himself) are all there.
Sounds impressive, right?
Let’s pause and level up our thinking. Billionaires are a glitch, an exploit of our global economic system.
Many fortunes trace back through generations to slavery, exploitation, or monopolies.
Others skyrocketed through clever market manipulations, monopolistic power, or sheer scale advantages that make losing practically impossible.
Here’s where we borrow wisdom from gaming. In massive multiplayer online (MMO) games, guilds often use Dragon Kill Points (DKP) to fairly distribute rewards.
But guess what happens when the DKP disparity becomes too large?
The richest guild members hoard resources, making the system fundamentally unfair. Solution?
Regular DKP resets.
We’re long overdue for a societal DKP reset.
When the wealthiest individuals hold so much capital that losing becomes impossible, we no longer have a functioning free market.
We have a system rigged by imbalance. Resetting the metaphorical DKP (rebalancing the economy through wealth taxes, progressive policies, and systemic reforms) isn’t just fair. It’s essential.
Sorry, billionaire rookies, but your loot tables are OP.
Time for a nerf.
