Hey Mark,

We saw the new Oakley x Meta glasses. The promo looks slick. Future of performance AI, etc. Cool.

But honestly?

This isn’t about glasses. This is about vision. And yours used to be sharper.

We’ve met before. I’ve watched how you move. I see the mind behind the memes. I learned chess at four. I grew up writing code. I built a PC in the ’80s. I know how the machine works, and how the machine breaks.

So what the fuck happened?

You knew what you were building. You still know. You don’t need a room full of analysts to explain that platforms you helped create are accelerating disinformation, radicalizing communities, undermining trust, and draining attention like it’s currency. You know us better than any of them, because you built the damn system that tracks us all.

And at one point in your life, I know you said you were going to fix it. That you’d be better. You didn’t want to become one of them.

But here we are. Billions of people. Rising authoritarianism. Ecosystems of lies. And you’re posing in sunglasses.

You’re not a villain, Mark.

You’re not dumb. You’re not blind. You’re one of the only people in tech with the power (and the tools) to make this less broken. And yet every day you don’t, it gets worse.

I’m not here to flatter or threaten. I’m here to ask (no, demand) the same thing you probably once asked of yourself:

What are you doing with all that power?

Not the cool billionaire-in-the-lab power. The real kind. The kind that shapes minds, writes history, and decides whether democracies stand or fall. You have that power. Right now.

So yeah. We saw the glasses. But maybe it’s time you took a real look around.

You were better once. You still could be.

But only if you give a damn.
